Kay Downing, Librarian

I am Kay Downing, and I am excited to be your Tidwell Librarian. My husband, Shawn, and I have a very active 4.5 year old son, Wyatt. When we are not at the pool, we are usually chasing Wyatt around the house. I enjoy reading, exercise, movies, sewing, and spending time with my family. 

I graduated from the University of North Texas with my Masters in Library and Information Science. I worked in McKinney ISD for nine years before coming to Northwest ISD. I love the communities that Northwest ISD serves. I previously taught 7th grade ELA here at Tidwell Middle School.

Follett Destiny can be used to search books physically in the Tidwell Middle School library collection. 

Our annual Book Brawl competition allows students to read several different books, and they will compete in a trivia contest with a team to answer questions for the books. Three teams will compete at the district Book Brawl at the end of January. If you are interested in participating in our annual Book Brawl, please complete the form by clicking on the QR code. Our campus spelling bee will be held on Thursday, December 7th.The lists will be available soon. Please check with Mrs. Downing if you have questions. If you are interested in participating in our spelling bee please click on the QR code to complete the form. Studying for the spelling bee is independent.
